HISTORIC PETERSBURG FOUNDATION, INC.

MISSION

To serve as a catalyst in the preservation and development of Petersburg's historic neighborhoods and commercial areas and to promote widespread knowledge of the city's unique architectural and historical heritage.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Revitalizing High Street through the restoration of some of its key residential structures, spurring over $3 million in private investment.
  • Helping return the Dunlop Tobacco Factory and Appomattox Iron Works to productive use.
  • Saving from demolition the Wallace-Seward House, Strawberry Hill, and Mayfield. These buildings are individually listed on the National Register of Historic Places and the Virginia Landmarks Register.
  • Establishing with the City of Petersburg seven historic districts.
  • Received ISTEA Funding to implement major public improvements otherwise unaffordable to the City, for Grove Avenue Streetscape Enhancement Plan

MEMBERSHIP

Membership in the Historic Petersburg Foundation, Inc. is open to all who are interested in our city and in the aims and objectives of the Foundation. To continue to accept and meet the challenges of revitalizing Petersburg=s historic districts, and keep HPF=s voice strong in the community, we need your continued support. HPF membership entitles you to receive discounts on bus trips, homes tours, publications; and receive a quarterly newsletter, annual report, real estate brochure and other Foundation mailings.
